LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Republic Bank announced the award of 14 grants to non-profit organizations offering Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Earned Income Tax Credit (VITA/EITC) programs for the 2009-10 tax season. VITA/EITC programs assist low income citizens with tax preparation and filing.

These grants totaling $50,000 were awarded to:

United Way of San Antonio & Bexar County - San Antonio, TX

Atlanta Community Food Bank - Atlanta, GA

Heart of Florida United Way- Orlando, FL

United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties- Leesburg, FL

New York City Financial Network Action Consortium (NYCfNAC) - New York, NY Food
Bank of New York City - New York, NY

Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc. - Oakland Park, FL

Community Tax Aid, Inc (CTA) - New York, NY

Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment (PACE) - Los Angeles, CA

Chinatown Service Center - Los Angeles, CA

Middle Rio Grande Development Foundation, Inc - Eagle Pass, TX and

Louisville Asset Building Coalition- Louisville, KY.

These grants will be used to support the general operations, needs or growth for programs providing tax payer services with a special emphasis on technological improvements to facilitate e-filing with the IRS.
