LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Republic Bank & Trust Company announced the award of 24 grants to
non-profit organizations offering Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and
Earned Income Tax Credit (VITA/EITC) programs for the 2011-12 tax
season. VITA/EITC programs assist low income and senior citizens with
tax preparation and filing.
These grants will be used to support the general operation, needs or
growth for programs providing tax payer services with a special emphasis
on asset building, increasing access to banking services and to
facilitate e-filing with the IRS. According to Republic Bank Chairman
and CEO Steve Trager, “Republic Bank is proud to support these
organizations as they assist local citizens in preparing and filing
their income taxes. It is our goal to help these organizations to assist
citizens in reaching their personal financial goals and build the
economic foundations of their communities.”
Approximately 185,000 low income and senior citizens will be assisted
with the tax preparation and filing through the following VITA/EITC
organizations receiving the grants:
